By Mark Zinnel, Buttermaker Reporter The Hadley Buttermakers had a rough week, as they lost two games. One by a shutout and another in a slugfest. Here is the week’s recap:
WEDNESDAY: MILROY 4 HADLEY 0
Hadley traveled to Milroy to take on the Yankees in the second game of their home and home duel with the hopes of staying undefeated against the Yankees in second year matchup series. For Hadley on this night, the Buttermakers hit the ball hard but always to a Milroy fielder, as Milroy would shut out the Buttermakers.
Owen Gillette started on the mound for Hadley and the Milroy batters got right after Owen. After Owen hit the first Irish batter, Milroy would string along three straight hits and take a 3-0 lead which would be all they would need.
Hadley only managed to pick up 5 hits in the 9-inning game. Three times they would have a runner in scoring position but were unable to get a big hit to drive in a run.
Milroy would get their 4th run in 5th inning when Owen would hit his 2nd batter, and a single would put Yankees at the corners. Skyler Feikema would take over and give up a sacrifice fly. Skyler would load the bases but get out of trouble.
For Hadley, Teague Meyer, Dugan Kluis, Dylan Kluis Krew Schneider, and Abe Paulzine would get hits for the Buttermakers. Owen Gillette took the loss.

SUNDAY: JACKSON 17 HADLEY 16
By the score, it looked like the Buttermakers missed an extra point in a football game final, but it was just your ordinary baseball slugfest on a windy afternoon. Things did not start out in Hadley’s favor. Trevin Prins started on the bump for Hadley and the Bulls came out swinging as they lit the board up. Trevin would last only 1/3 of an inning as Bryce Ahrendt entered the game. By the time Jackson’s bat ended, 10 runs showed on the scoreboard: highlighted by a grand slam. Hadley would have to work their way back and that is what they did. By the time Hadley finished batting, Hadley would tie the game at 10-10. Hadley would score 6 of their runs with 2 outs. Max Zwart was thrown out at the plate on a double from Jakob Olsom that would have given Hadley the lead.
Jackson would continue their hitting as they scored two more runs in the 2nd and a solo run in the 3rd and 4th innings to go back ahead 14-10. Hadley had chances to push across runs in the 2nd through 4th innings but would leave runners in scoring position in each inning, especially in the 2nd when they left the bases loaded.
Hadley started another comeback in the 5th inning. With 2 outs, Hadley would get a single and walk. Krew Schneider would lace a single past the 3rd baseman to cut the lead to 1411. Hadley would tie the game in the 6th. Hadley worked out two walks. Max Zwart would then step up and hit a pitch over the leftfield fence to the game at 14-14.
Lincoln Swanjord took over on the mound in the 7th. Jackson would get 2 runs off Lincoln in the 7th and 1 in the 8th to go back ahead 17-14. In Hadley’s at bat in the 8th, Teague Meyer would work out a walk with 1 out. Tucker Sorenson then would step up and hit a no-doubter over the rightfield fence to close the gap to 17-16. Swanjord would put the Bulls down 1-2-3 to start things off in the 9th. Would Hadley have another comeback? With 1-out, Krew Schneider would single and Abe Paulzine would walk to put the tying and winning runs on base, but the Bull reliever would get a strikeout and weak pop up to halt the possible Buttermaker comeback and escape with the 17-16 victory.
Krew Schneider led Hadley with 4 hits, Teague Meyer and Jakob Olson would collect 2 hits each, Tucker Sorenson and Derek Kluis add 2 hits each and Abe Paulzine with 1 hit. On the rbi side, Jakob Olson and Max Zwart led the way with 3 rbis, Krew Schneider, Tucker Sorenson, Teague Meyer, and Derek Kluis had 2 rbis with Alex Petersen picking up 1 rbi. Lincoln Swanjord was the losing pitcher.
