By Crystal Reith With an influx of concerned residents contacting the Slayton Police Department and Slayton City Hall with concerns about the use of motorized foot scooters in town, city officials are reminding the public of state laws and local ordinances governing the use of scooters and electric bicycles.

The Rebels were in the Minnesota State Baseball Tournament Semi Finals for the first time in school history. The Murray County Central Rebels, the 4th seeded team was set to take on the top seeded Madelia Blackhawks.

The MCC Rebels were back at the Minnesota State Baseball Tournament for the first time in twenty five years. The Rebels, in 2001, won the Consolation Championship good for 5th place in the Rebels’ best finish in school history.

The MCC Rebels would play in the toughest game in any sport at the high school level in my opinion. The Rebels played the South Ridge Panthers in the 3rd place game at the state tournament.

The Murray County Central golfers had an impressive performance at the 2026 Class A State Golf Tournament, highlighted by a fourth-place finish for the girls team and a top-10 individual finish by senior Rachael Huso. Representing the Rebels at state were seniors Rachael Huso, Lizzie Daniels, and Elysia Korver; junior Kaden Landsman; sophomore Natalie Einck; freshman Brielle Plotz; and eighth grader Emersyn Meyer. The golfers arrived in Becker on Monday for an early morning practice round at Pebble Creek Golf Club to prepare for the challenging tournament course. A brief rain shower during the practice round provided an opportunity for players to adjust to changing conditions before competition began. The boys competed in the morning sessions while the girls teed off in the afternoon. Both tournament days featured sunny skies and excellent course conditions.

By John Stenan Many Christians have bought into the lie that the catching away of the Church (rapture), is a new revelation and a lie. This is not true, for the apostle Paul taught on it in 1 Cor. 15:51-54 and again in 1 Thess. 4:13-18. The critics of this teaching say that those who believe in it are simply looking for some sort of escape from God’s Wrath during the Tribulation that is coming to this earth. That’s right! Have they never read Luke 21:36? It says right after Jesus tells of the horrors of the tribulation, “Watch ye therefore, and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass.” Time is running out! Jesus may come back soon; millions of Christians believe He may return at any time. Are you ready? Are you living for Christ each day? Please, don’t play Russian roulette with your eternal destiny.
