Ag Plus Cooperative held its 3rd Annual Soup & Chili Cook-Off fundraiser to benefit United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). Employees raised $3025 at four of their locations. Ag Plus Cooperative made a 2-for-1 match on those funds raised for an investment of $6050. Additionally, Ag Plus Cooperative requested and received a $6050 matching donation from Land O’Lakes Cooperative for a total campaign of $12,100.

Agricultural producers and landowners with certain expiring Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts can receive additional rental incentives and extend that land’s role in conservation for another 30 years. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has opened the signup period for its Clean Lakes, Estuaries, and Rivers enrollment (CLEAR30) now through July 31, 2023. CLEAR30 is a part of the CLEAR initiative, which prioritizes water quality practices as a part of Continuous CRP enrollment and is one of several CRP enrollment opportunities. CLEAR30 allows producers and landowners enrolling certain water quality practices to enroll in 30-year contracts, extending the lifespan and strengthening the benefits of important water quality practices on their land. Like other CRP enrollments, CLEAR30 is a voluntary, incentive-based conservation opportunity offered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA).

Most think of an Ag Tour as crops or livestock, Murray County 4-H toured two local companies that work within the Agricultural community in a different way. 38 youth and adults from Murray and Nobles County 4-H spent time learning with Bioverse and Cambridge Technologies staff to understand what each company produces and career paths for employees.

The MCC Rebels played host to the Wolverines of Mountain Lake Area Comfrey on Tuesday, May 9th. The Rebels lost to the Wolverines a week earlier in Mountain Lake after the Rebels blew a 7-2 lead and a 9-6 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning. Unfortunately, the Rebels wouldn’t play well enough to lose a lead on Tuesday as the Wolverines would pick up the win never trailing in the game.
