USDA announced Milk Loss Program (MLP) assistance for eligible dairy operations for milk that was dumped or removed, without compensation, from the commercial milk market due to qualifying weather events and the consequences of those weather events that inhibited delivery or storage of milk (e.g., power outages, impassable roads, infrastructure losses, etc.) during calendar years 2020, 2021 and 2022. Administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), signup for MLP begins Sept. 11 and runs through Oct. 16, 2023.

USDA Rural Development has funding availabile for very lowand low-income individuals and families seeking to purchase or repair a home in a rural area. The Direct Home Loan program offers financing to qualified very-low and low-income applicants that are unable to qualify for traditional financing.

Not long after I left Viet-Nam in March of 1971, where I served as a scout-sniper with the first marine division, I was sent to the Philippines for fifteen months where we did security for a naval base. In Viet-Nam, no Christian ever presented the gospel of Jesus Christ to me; and had I been killed over there, I would have gone to hell, for I was a lost sinner.

The MCC Rebels were hoping to start a winning streak but you can’t have a streak if you don’t get the first win. The Rebels were hoping to get that first win against the Windom Area Eagles.

On Thursday September, 15th the Warriors competed at the annual Turkey Trot. It was a beautiful day for cross country racing. Not too warm with a slight breeze provided wonderful conditions for all the runners. The Warrior girls took first place with 65 points. They beat second place Pipestone by 2 points. Brylei Schreier once again led the Warriors to victory. Schreier placed fifth in 21:30. Sophia Nelson (21:54) was also in the top ten for the Warriors, in ninth place. Holland Vogel and Laiken Farris went 17 and 18th. Vogel ran 22:48 and Farris was not far behind, running 23:03. In 22nd was Lindsey Hause with a time of 23:38, 35 seconds behind Farris. Emma Risacher (25:59) had an impressive race placing 39th. Seven seconds later Ruth Ethridge crossed the finish line in 41st. The eighth runner for the Warriors in the girls varsity race was Lily Daniels placing 47th with a time of 26:50.
