In years past this took been considerable thought to get the just right present. And then there’s the process of buying or making it, wrapping and then waiting until Christmas.

Hypertension or high blood pressure is coined the “silent killer” within the health care setting. We call it this because even though you feel fine, damage is occurring to vital organs. Think about it; increased pressure in your plumbing will eventually wreak havoc to the pump (heart), pipes (vessels) and/or filter (kidneys), among other important system components! I was trying think of the “silent killers” in agriculture (and consulted a few experts) … we couldn’t think of one specific but came up with a few; 1) ignoring fertility over time will eventually impact yields, 2) forgetting to take care of your grain in bin storage, as you may wind up with rotten corn, or 3) ignoring swine genetics and ending up with funky mutations later.

SLAYTON - Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) in the Slayton area, sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution will be held at the office of A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota – Murray County at 2989 Maple Rd., Slayton MN. Distribution will take place on Thursday, December 14th, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm.

Monday, December 11: Pepper Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Peas and Carrots, Bread w/Margarine, Fruit, Lowfat Milk. Tuesday, December 12: Biscuit w/Sausage Gravy, Egg Bake, Stewed Tomatoes, Fruit, Lowfat Milk.
