What’s Happening in Community Ed . .

As tradition, the MCC boys basketball team starts their season off playing Sleepy Eye Public and Sleepy Eye St. Mary the second weekend of the season. Both games would be exciting back and forth contests with MCC coming up short, but experience was gained from one game to the next.

Murray County Central Rebel Girl’s basketball opened the season last week with a home win over the TMB Panthers on Tuesday night. Friday the Rebels were on the road to Fulda to take on the Coyotes of Heron Lake Okabena Fulda. The Coyotes lost to Lakeview on Tuesday of last week 62 to 13 and were looking to bounce back against the Rebels. MCC seemed focused to pick up their second win of the season and it all started with their defense.

The MCC Rebel Girls were back at home on Tuesday night taking on their toughest competition of the season in the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen. Edgerton was the runner-up in the sub-section a year ago and return three key players from that team including Alyda Vande Griend, one of the top players in the Red Rock Conference. The Rebels were looking to pick up their biggest win in several seasons but that wasn’t to be. Edgerton picked up their second win of the conference schedule in Slayton.
