Question: I was driving on the freeway during the worst part of a recent storm. Just had a question—are people supposed to use their emergency flashers when they are driving? So many cars on the freeway were, and it made it impossible to tell if someone was actually stopped or moving slowly (also, if they changed lanes, there was no way to tell). I was having trouble seeing anyway, and this made it worse. Is this something they teach in drivers’ education these days?

SEVEN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA PROJECTS RECEIVE CERTS SEED GRANTS FOR COMMUNITY-BASED CLEAN ENERGY EFFORTS

TWO OF THEM WERE RIGHT HERE IN MURRAY COUNTY Minnesota’s Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) is awarding seed grants to 45 energy efficiency and renewable energy projects—including seven within the southwest region of Minnesota. The projects range from educational outreach on clean energy incentives, to energy efficiency for manufactured homes, to skill-building for clean energy careers.

The University of Minnesota Extension Slayton Winter Crops Day and Small Grains Program will be held in person on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the 4-H Building in Slayton. Registration will begin at 8:30 am, with the program running from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Whether you farm or work with farmers, this program is a great opportunity to hear the latest University- based research and information about corn, soybean, and small grain production issues and management strategies. The morning program will focus on corn and soybean management topics pertinent to our area. The Southern Small Grain Workshop will follow in the afternoon, where topics will address successful small grain management.
