Question: I have a question in regards to exploring a business idea that has to do with mobile advertising, such as an illuminated board advertising business. I am concerned about the visual distraction for drivers and was wondering if this was allowed.

Kaitlyn Schaap, daughter of Jeff and Jody Schaap, will represent the Murray County American Dairy Association for 2024-2025. Kaitlyn Schaap was crowned the Murray County American Diary Association Princess on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Murray County 4-H Building.

The area Scouts recently held their annual Pinewood Derby in February with 29 cars racing! All 21 Cub Scouts created derby cars, as well as 4 leaders and 4 family members. The Slayton Kiwanis served a walking taco dinner prior to the races. There were 72 heats with champions for each age group, and one grand champion of all. Vaeda Wurpts won the Pack Champion and Leader Patricia Flanigan won Best in Show.

The Murray County Speech Team with Coach Christina Walker have had a very successful season, finishing 1st as a team at Worthington, Luverne, Redwood Valley and Montevideo, and 2nd at Marshall. Our Junior High team also had a lot of success at our meets in Luverne and RTR. We have just 3 Invitationals left before sub-sections.

The regular meeting of the Murray County Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, March 05, 2024. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter requested an additional $2,000 on behalf of the AARP Committee for key fobs for doors in the Government Center. This will complete the changeover in the building. Winter presented a list of businesses requesting 3.2 Malt Liquor license renewals including Rolling Hills Golf Club, Cenex convenience stores and Ruppert’s Oil.

The Slayton Area Farm & Home Show/Family Fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Murray County Historical Society Lunchbox Lecture will host presenter Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul on Thursday, February 8 at noon in the Murray County 4-H building on the Fairgrounds.
