When a man with a guitar took the stage during an Open Mic night at Bluenose Gopher Public House, turning his back to the audience and facing the window behind the stage to play, it drew the attention of the crowd. It wasn’t, however, the way he sat, turned away from the audience, that caught their attention initially - it was the sound that came from his guitar, and the sound of his voice as he sang.

“It is appointed once unto man to die, and after that the judgment,” (Heb. 9:27). There are those who believe that after they die they will go to purgatory. They believe that going into purgatory will further purify them of their sins; after this further purification of their sins, they believe they will then be acceptable to enter into heaven. This teaching is false;- it is nowhere to be found in the Bible. This teaching was introduced in 593 A.D. If this teaching is true, then what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross for those of us who have placed our faith in all He did for us, is insufficient. The apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 1:1112 that all the revelations he received came directly from Jesus Christ, not from man. He tells us in 2nd Corinthians 5:8 concerning those of us who are Christians and die, that we go to be with the Lord - not purgatory. Paul also tells us by inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Philippians 1:19-24 that when Christians leave this life, they go to be with Christ.

Court Queen of Peace met Saturday, Feb 24 with 12 members present in the school social room due to floor and pew restoration in the church. Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order with prayer and flag pledge. Without a secretary, a synopsis of the January meeting was read by Vice-regent Deanna Konkol. The treasurer’s report was read and filed. There was nothing to report from the Financial secretary, SOS chair, Youth chair or Spirituality chair. Legislative chair Jan Bryan informed CDA members about the End-of-Life Options Act which had medical professionals, people with disabilities, military veterans, and faith leaders speaking against the bill. However, the committee voted along party lines to advance the bill out of committee for further consideration. The second bill was the ‘sanctuary’ bill which would designate all of Minnesota as a sanctuary state for illegal aliens. The bill is not scheduled for a hearing in either chamber. The bright spot is the Families First Project that the legislature passed which gives Minnesotans a nation-leading permanent state-level child tax credit for eligible families.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that agricultural producers and private landowners can begin signing up for the general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) starting March 4 and running through March 29, 2024. This conservation opportunity gives producers tools to conserve wildlife habitat while achieving other conservation benefits, including sequestering carbon and improving water quality and soil health.

Starting Wednesday, February 28, dairy producers are able to enroll for 2024 Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC), an important safety net program offered through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) that provides producers with price support to help offset milk and feed price differences.
