The regular meeting of the Murray County Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, February 06, 2024. Commissioner Jackie Meier was not present for the meeting.
In a discussion it was decided that the final costs of Redetermination of Benefits for Groups 1 and 2 will be assessed to land owners following the final meeting, probably in September. Those costs of $603,669.05 will be shared by all the landowners on each of the individual drainage systems involved in the Redetermination.
Ditch Inspector Travis Radke had only one item for the Board. He has had a request for the tile on County Ditch 11 to be inspected by camera under Highway 30. The images will be used in the legal action to obtain payment from MN DOT for the work completed several years ago when the highway collapsed over the tile line.
CEO Luke Schryvers of the Murray County Medical Center presented his monthly report to the Commissioners. Under personnel, he reported that Physician Assistant student Nicholas Fenske will be in the clinic following Paige Freeman as part of his training.
Two new providers, Dan Woldt and Melanie Behrends will start February 12th and already have patients booked. One full time Physical Therapist is being sought. The spot has been covered for a long time with traveling staff.
Work is being done to create a Community Collaboration with other healthcare providers and leaders within the community in an effort to better meet the overall needs of each.
Patient surveys are being sent following appointments. They can be completed by phone or email with the hope for more reliable and timely data.
New federal regulations that went into effect January 1st require MCMC to provide the price of services. Those prices are listed on the website and an estimator tool is provided to patients.
December was a busy month. Year to date patient numbers are down by five; however patient days are down 101, a reflection of changes in care. ER and clinic visits were both increased over the past year. Current cash on hand is $8.9M. YTD income is positive at $704,833.
Sheriff Landsman requested $21,185 to outfit the two new squad vehicles that are on order. As many items from the old vehicles as possible will be reused.
Commissioner Jackie Meier and alternate Commissioner Lori Gunnink were approved to represent Murray County on the Redwood River Watershed.
Southwest Regional Development Commission was contracted to draft a Comprehensive Land Use Plan to update the 2016 plan.
An attempt will be made for $300,000 grant to re-certify monuments and create GPS markers for land corners. These will aid in survey of land parcels. Many corners are still marked only with the original rock placements. The project will be a joint effort of the Highway Department, Environmental Services and the Auditor’s Office. Bueltel Moseng Land Surveying Inc. will provide the personnel to serve as the County Survey for the grant program application.
Parks Director Justin Hoffmann received approval to proceed with an additional six campsites at Sundquist Park on West Lake Sarah. The gravel pads will have electric hookups. The Parks and Recreation Committee had recommended the project.
The 4H building will receive an update to LED lighting through a $5,000 CERT grant.
Highway Engineer Randy Groves requested the sale of one surplus 2009 Mack dump truck that has been replaced. He also requested the purchase of four new pieces of equipment: a 2024 JD loader, a 2024 shouldering machine, a Jumper packer and loader forks. The nearly $500,000 in total costs while a concern were within the amount budgeted for the purpose.
An agreement was approved for 2025 that will allow the Sheriff and County Attorney Travis Smith to enforce Child Support agreements.
