The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, November 01, 2022. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter updated the Board regarding the upcoming election. There have been 2129 mail in ballots distributed. That is 18% of the eligible voters with eighteen of twenty-nine precincts using mail in ballots.

Winter also presented four projects to be funded through American Rescue Plan (ARPA). The project to install HVAC equipment in the 911 Room is $15,985 with an additional $2500 for analysis to maintain the roof warranty. Compatible equipment for the Fire Repeater will come at a cost of $23,167.70. The Courts Building sewer lines project was extended to include lines for the sinks and a line from the building to the street at a cost of $19,595.36. New carpet for the Government Center hallways and license center was given approval at a cost of $6,891.90.

CEO Luke Schryvers presented his monthly report of activities at the Murray County Medical Center. A Risk Management Assess-of December 31. Two part time providers will provide the needed coverage to fill the void. Financial figures were down for September due to a third payroll for the month totaling $330,000; A number that nearly matched the shortfall for the month. Hospital patient days remain strong for 2022 with a 30% increase. Surgery numbers and ER visits are also strong for 2022.

Ditch Inspector Travis Radke presented five ditch repair petitions: CD 20, Lowville Township #15, CD 67, Slayton Township #3, JD 20 Bondin Township #19, JD 21, Shetek Township #14 and CD 43 Belfast Township #15. The Belfast Township repair will be inspected and then reviewed as to the scope of work that will be needed.

The Conditional Use Permit to allow Travis Reith to expand his feedlot to 947.5 au was approved. The feedlot is located in Sec. 34 of Lime Lake Township and includes a settling manure lane.

Chief Deputy Heath Landsman was on hand to discuss the setting of a fine for violation of the golf cart ordinance. County Attorney Travis Smith was included in the discussion, citing the fact that in addition to the fine, the courts will assess an additional $85 fee along with the fine. The cost of a new permit is set at $30 due at the first of the year. With this fact in mind, the Board will recommend a fine of $50 to the courts.
