In non conference action, the Pipestone Area Arrows were in Slayton to take on host Murray County Central Rebels. MCC, just coming off an exciting win in Edgerton, were looking to continue to improve.

The Rebels started out strong behind Kate Slettum at the service line before the Arrows turned the tide in their favor.

MCC was able to keep the ball in play during the first set, but unable to ignite the offense. Set one saw just nine kills for the Rebels behind Slettum with three. Rebels fall, 17-25.

In the second set the Arrows had MCC on their heels and won handily, 14-25. MCC didn’t give up in the third set.

Morgan Winter started the game with an ace serve and MCC was able to keep pace behind attacks from Slettum, Atalie Rosenbrook and Winter.

MCC came back late in the set facing a six point deficit. Winter put up a key block followed by a kill off Casey Miller to bring the Rebels within three.

The Arrows however, were able to take advantage of Rebel mistakes and held on to a sweep taking set three, 20-25.

The Rebel junior varsity was victorious against the Arrows, 24-26, 25-21, 15-10. The team combined with 27 kills (Kate Blankenship-10; Jessa Gillette-7), 12 ace serves (Elise Paulzine-5) and 27 set assists (Thea Schneider-15; Kelli Miller-12) as a unit. MCC’s C-squad fought hard but fell to the Arrows, 23-25, 2624 and 5-15. Highlights of the match came from Ava Reemtsma who had four ace blocks, along with nine combined kills for Erynn Rohrer and Suttyn Schryvers and 25 total digs for Schryvers and Ava Deacon.
