GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark And now it is November. Less than two months left of the year. Our outside (and inside) work needs to be done before Winter finally sets in.

Ad for the garden, this means removing remaining garden produce we want to save. We’ve mentioned potatoes, and other root crops in past columns. Maybe the garden will get plowed too. And there’s other yard work to be done too. We’ve also mentioned winterizing the car too. And getting things checked out so the car will run during the coldest weather.

Last column we mentioned seeing winter underwear for sale. Other things are available and at least to be checked out for new replacements as needed. Winter work clothes are available in Slayton.

In past years when Slayton still had clothing stores we updated our winter clothes. This writer remembers getting a new winter coat each year. The old one was downgraded to being worn at home.

Other winter things have shown up in stores too. one is snow removal equipment - either snow shovels, snow brushes, as well as snow blowers.

What occurred to this writer is riding lawn mowers are quite popular but have never seen a riding snow blower for some reason.

Lastly, be sure to vote in this year’s election One person in the past said if you don’t vote, then don’t complain about who got elected.

Until next week.
