Dogs often cause brown spots of dead grass in the lawn. Their urine acts like fertilizer burn. The treatment is the same. Thoroughly water the area to dilute the soil. It may not be practical, but it is effective.
Check the lower leaves of tomato plants and perennials for discoloration, spotting, and yellowing. Remove those problems.
To reduce spray hazards, spray early in the morning when the air is still and there is less activity in the yard.
