WIDE VARIETY OF TOPICS COVERED BY COMMISSIONERS

By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, March 04, 2025 with all five members of the board present. The first item of business brought forward by Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter was the 2025 renewal of 3.2 Malt Liquor and Seasonal Liquor licenses. All of those were approved. The Gambling Permit Applications of the Currie Town & Country at the Fulda Town & Country Golf Club were approved. These will allow gambling and bingo to take place on three dates in March, the 14, 21 and 28th.

AMERICAN LEGION NATIONAL COMMANDER TO SPEAK IN SLAYTON ON MARCH 28

American Legion National Commander James A. LaCoursiere Jr. of Connecticut is coming to Slayton and will speak on issues of importance to Minnesota veterans. LaCoursiere is strongly committed to raising awareness for The American Legion’s “Be the One” efforts to prevent veteran suicide.

SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVED PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH NORTHWEST NATURAL GAS AND SET COMMUNITY MEETINGS

The Slayton City Council met in regular session on March 3, 2025 with all members in attendance. No one was present for Public Forum. They began by approving the agenda with additions, as well as, the minutes from the last meeting. They then went on to approve the claims and cash balances for the month. They reminded everyone of the dates for the Northwest Natural Gas Community Meetings. These will happen on Thurs. March 27th at 6:30 and also on April 23rd at 6:30.

THE STORY OF OUR BABY The title upon the baby book read, “The Story of Our Baby.” The faded light blue satin upon the cover was evidence of the years gone by. The white lamb framed within splotches of brown seeping through were indicative of the aging process.

MCC REBEL BOYS BASKETBALL VS TMB

MCC 48 - TMB 47 MCC and TMB provided another instant classic as the subsection quarterfinal matchup between the 3 seeded Panthers and the 6 seeded Rebels was decided on the last shot and the last second. This will be three games in a row with an unlimited amount of drama to end the contests going back to last year’s first round playoff game when another Aidan hit a game winner, then this season’s quadruple overtime victory for the Rebels, and now Super Saturday’s game winning shot by Aidan Swenson with no time remaining.

WARRIOR WRESTLERS COMPETED AT STATE

The Fulda/Murray County Central Warriors Wrestling season has come to an end. With 4 wrestlers making the state tournament Carson Klein, Isaiah Wolske, Colby Kesteloot, and Quintin Lewis. All four wrestlers went 2 and out to finish their seasons yet we are forever grateful for all of their effort. This ends one of the most successful seasons the Warriors have had in a long time and we are already looking forward to next year.
