The MCC track teams traveled to Pipestone on Saturday, April 23rd, competing against nine other schools. With sustained winds of 30 mph and gusts close to 45 mph, it is safe to say that these were less than ideal conditions. Two of the events, high jump and pole vault, were canceled due to safety concerns. It turned out to be a good choice as both landing mats blew over during the meet. Through it all though, the MCC athletes kept a positive attitude and competed to the best of their abilities.

The girls had a number of their athletes place in the top six on the day. Sprinter Ryanna Schreier was 4th in a strong 100 field, The Rebels placed three in the 800 with Sophia Nelson placing 2nd, Brylei Schreier 3rd and Megan Bakke 6th. Ashley Overguaaw was 2nd in the mile while Amanda Overguaaw was the 2 mile champion.

Individually for the boys, Ryan Risacher placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles while Ashton Kalas was 4th in the 110 hurdles.

The 4x200 relay team of Chelby Kesteloot, Abby Overman, Brylei Schreier and Ryanna Schreier placed 6th. The 4x4 team (Brylei, Ryanna, Ashley, Amanda) placed 2nd as did the 4x800 team consisting of Sophia Nelson, Megan Bakke, Lily Daniels and Lindsey Hause. Three of the boy’s relay teams placed 6th. Those teams and their members were: 4x800 (Rylan Engelkes, Logan Steinle, Jordan Sturges, Wyatt Biren), 4x200 (Jordan Sturges, Dylan Doeden, Ben Ahlers, Thomas Huso) and the 4x100 (Ashton Kalas, Brock Smith, Logan Steinle, Ryan Risacher.
