Tim Bassett was born on September 5, 1959, in Slayton, Minnesota to Raymond and Esther Forsberg Bassett. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Slayton and graduated from Slayton high School. Timmy moved to Worthington and was a resident of McMillan home eventually he was able to move to his own apartment. Timmy was very proud to live on his own. He kept his apartment very neat and clean as well as cooked his own meals. Tim worked at TAC for over 30 years and for the Holiday Inn in the Laundry Department. Tim embraced life and never met a stranger if you met him once you were a friend for life. Tim also had a knack for remembering and reminding you of things you did in the past. One story he loved to remind Herb was the time Herb drove over his leg with the truck and broke one of Timmy’s legs. No matter how many years have passed Tim never forgot it. Timmy had a great sense of humor and loved to play jokes and make people laugh. He loved to do pull tabs and play games, especially the card game 31 and he always came out the winner no matter what. Due to declining health Tim moved to Residential Advantages in Luverne. He passed away there on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 67 under the hospice care. Tim attended St. Mary’s Church in Worthington. Tim enjoyed being with his family, bowling, going to the Casino, eating out, holiday get together and playing 31, doing word search puzzles books as homework, latch hook and his dog, Fritz. Timmy had his favorite lines, like “ I joke around “, “your my favorite one’, “ I know know “ and “oh go fly a kite”.
Survivors include his brother, Herbert Bassett and his wife, Judy of Onalaska, WI, sisterin- law, Deb Bassett of Slayton, MN, 15 nieces and nephews, 36 great-nieces and nephews and 12 great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Lori and Jerry Duffy, Jane and John Weis, Kenneth Bassett, Chesleigh Bassett and one niece, Kristin Duffy.Memorial Services were at IHM Church in Currie, MN on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jordan Danielson officiating. The organist was Patty LeClaire. The song leader was Matt Kopprud. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Currie, MN.
