SUSAN “SUE” KAY CLARKE

Sue Clarke was born on November 2, 1952, in Worthington, Minnesota to Rimer and Florence (Kratzke) Isder. She grew up on the family farm near Avoca, MN and graduated from Fulda High School in 1970. Following high school she attended Granite Falls Vo-Tech in Granite Falls, MN.

She married David “Dave” Clarke on April 28, 1973, at Faith Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN. They farmed and raised their two children near Avoca before moving to Slayton in 2020.

Outside of farming with Dave, Sue also worked at The Hut in Slayton for 20 years. Sue was a member of Faith Lutheran Church until it closed in 2018. She then joined Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton. Sue was a very active member of both churches; she especially loved singing in the choir and spending time with the quilting group. She was a volunteer for many years at the Annual Hospice Rummage Sale and helped lead the SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) exercise program at church. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, crafting, cooking, bird watching, quilting, wood carving, and loved animals. Sue passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the age of 73. Survivors include her husband, Dave Clarke of Slayton, MN, two children, Matt Clarke and his wife, Michele of Avoca, MN and Carisa Clarke of Slayton, MN, four grandchildren, Haleigh Ortmeier-Clarke and Jared Retzlaff, Justin Clarke, Madilyn Clarke and Seth Fennema, and Jackson Clarke, four siblings, Marlene and Ron Roberts of Plymouth, MN, Marvin and Sherri Isder of Fulda, MN, Richard and Kristine Isder of Marshall, MN, and Virginia and Stevan Spence of Hastings, MN, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, and furry friends, Agatha and Fritz.

Memorial Services were at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Chad Duffy officiating. The pianist was Sherri Isder and reader was Kristine Isder. Interment was at Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Avoca, MN.

Visitation was on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton from 4-6 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.
