Sandra Lee Widboom, lovingly known as Sandy, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 70, in Greenville, Texas.
Sandy was born on December 30, 1954, in Slayton, Minnesota, to Dorothy and Howard Gehlsen. She grew up surrounded by family and carried those close family values with her throughout her life.
She was married to her devoted husband, Randy Widboom, for 52 years. Their marriage was built on love, partnership, and shared traditions. Together, they enjoyed gardening and canning, creating not only food but memories that would last generations.
Sandy was a proud and loving mother to Holly Biers (husband Shane Biers), Ryan Widboom (wife Cindy), Casey Widboom (wife Verona), and Robby Widboom (wife Kylie). She was a deeply devoted grandmother to Tyler, Blake, Zoey, Remy, Aurora, Willow, Maverick, Jaxton, and Presley, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Mary-Ann, Betty, Diane, and Deb, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Howard Gehlsen; her mother, Dorothy Gehlsen; and her grandmother, Josephine Hindt.
Sandy worked in hospital administration, where she was known for her organization, dedication, and compassion for both patients and coworkers. Outside of work, she found joy in photography, crafting with her grandchildren, Christmas decorating, gardening, canning with Randy, playing card and dice games, and spending long hours around the table sharing meals and laughter with family.
Sandy was most known for her contagious laugh and her unwavering dedication to her family. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Iona Presbyterian Church in late May.
Sandy’s life advice: “Do good work and I’ll be there ‘with bells on.’”
