Jerry Platt was born to Louis and Doris (Bose) Platt on May 19th, 1951 at home in Lake Wilson MN. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 27th, 2026 at the age of 74. Jerry attended Lake Wilson Elementary School and graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1969.
Jerry was united in marriage to Donna Erpelding on January 9th, 1971 at St Martin’s Church in Woodstock MN. They made their home in Lake Wilson for their entire marriage. He started his truck driving career with Grain Belt out of Slayton. He then worked for a few years at Johnson Ditching, Lake Wilson. After that he spent 39+ years hauling milk; first in cream cans, then eventually moving to bulk trucks with Southwest Dairy Association in Russell. He also drove over the road for Bose Brothers Trucking. Jerry was a life long truck driver, receiving an award for driving over one million miles without an accident. Over the years he also sold night crawlers & started his own frozen pizza business-Genadori’s Pizza. He finished up his career working at the Russell Mini-Mart before retiring.
Jerry was a member of the Lake Wilson Fire Department for 21 years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking a spin through town to visit with people. Jerry was well known for his never ending snacks that he shared with everyone, in case you needed “something to chew on” Jerry is survived by his wife Donna of 55 years, son Chad (Patrice) Platt of Avoca, daughter Angie (Robert) Ford of Lake Wilson; 4 grandchildren, Sawyer (Audra) Canfield of Williston, ND, Schuyler Canfield and partner Amy Skluzacek of Oakdale, MN, Taylor Ford and Brady Ford of Lake Wilson; one great-grandson Desmond Canfield; sister Connie (Ron) Dirks of Slayton, and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mick, Bill and Fred and sister Shirley.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 10th from 5-8pm at the Lake Wilson American Legion in Lake Wilson, MN.
