On Thursday, July 29th, Murray County Medical Center held a retirement celebration for Dr. Carol Lang. Dr. Lang has provided care for patients of MCMC for almost the past five years, and was honored for her work during the gathering. Her medical interests while at the clinic included adult medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and osteopathic manipulative therapy. During the celebration, Dr. Lang was presented with numerous cards from patients and community members thanking her for her time, dedication, and compassion for health care. The clinic also presented Dr. Lang with a commemorative plaque for her service. Murray County Medical Center would once again like to thank Dr. Carol Lang for her time and care these past five years and wish her and her family the best during her retirement. She will be missed tremendously from our team.

It’s not to late to sign up for the Drive Thru Survivor Meal by calling Linda Tobias at 507-763-3173 to register. The drive thru will take place at the Murray County Fairgrounds on Saturday August 14th at 5:00 PM. All Cancer Survivors will be provided a free meal in honor of their survivorship.

The Einck family is working together to sponsor their second annual “Cousins for Causes” fundraiser on Friday, August 13th in Iona. The street dance at Van Bully’s will begin at 6pm with a pulled pork supper and live entertainment and the Eincks hope your donations will be generous. The proceeds will be split between the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Heart Heroes, Inc. and Ireland’s Hope, all causes that have touched the lives of the Eincks.

Slayton City Council met on Monday, August 2nd. In attendance were Councilmembers Kate Harmsen, Dean Ackerman, Blake Heronimus and Mayor Miron Carney. Chris Jacobson was absent. Also present were Josh Malchow, City Administrator and Kari Carlson, City Clerk.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on August 3, 2021. Luke Schryvers, CEO Murray County Medical Clinic presented his monthly update to the Commissioners. Staffing updates included the retirement of Dr. Carol Lang, DO. A positive report was given concerning Tom Bergman, PA-C’s first month as a provider. Efforts continue to attract another doctor with a site visit planned with a possible candidate. The search continued for a Radiology Tech, a Compliance Officer and a Maintenance person. Staff is working to transfer the records of 5000 patients to the new EPOC computer system scheduled for launch in March 2022. A new Urologist, Dr. Rosen is scheduled to see patients monthly along with Dr. Louwagie, an Ophthalmologist. Some positive cases of Covid have been seen. Vaccines continue to be available at any time.
