Question: What is the law in regards to pushing snow from ones driveway out onto the road? Answer: It is illegal to place snow from a driveway on or next to a public highway or street. The Minnesota Department of Transportation reminds everyone, “The placing of snow on or near a public road creates hazards, including drainage problems, drifting, sight obstruction and unsafe access.

Murray County Central School Board met on January 10, 2022. They began with the Re-organizational Meeting, where they voted on the officer positions, which remained the same as last year. Meetings will continue to be held at 6pm on the second Monday each month in the Murray County Central High School Library. Board members’ compensation also remains the same. The IRS rate is 58.5. Lisa Rademacher and Deb Bleyenberg were designated to perform duties of treasurer and clerk. The board’s legal counsel will continue to be Rupp, Anderson, Squires and Waldspurger, P.A. and Supt. Meyer, as well as the board members, are authorized to contact legal counsel when necessary. Lastly, the Board agreed to keep their assignments to the different committees.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently updated their COVID-19 isolation recommendations. The Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Education have adopted the recommendations set forth by the CDC. Murray County Central (MCC) will follow the guidelines below and offer the shortened isolation to staff and students who meet the requirements.

On Saturday, January 29, the Edgerton Chamber of Commerce and the Edgerton Museum are co-hosting a unique event at the Runals Memorial Hall in Edgerton. They plan to host a wedding dress show featuring dresses from the past and present.

SLAYTON – Childcare shortages are a concern across the nation, something the Murray County Economic Development Authority considers an economic issue for all employers and employees. The MC EDA has a new fund dedicated toward helping new providers become licensed and assisting with expansion for current family childcare providers who are not at capacity.

The Fulda Murray County Central Warriors are back at it again with a busy week of wrestling with travel to Minneota for a Triangular against Minneota where the Warriors took on the Minneota Vikings and the Redwood Valley Cardinals.

Coming out of the Christmas break MCC would travel to Pipestone to take on three solid Pipestone teams. The Varsity, B, and C team would all be in action and playing good competition regardless of outcome is what it’s all about. Understanding that there is a next level to strive for as a player and team creates growth.

The B and Varsity teams played in Westbrook and both games came down to the wire as back and forth play created some exciting moments Friday night. The B-squad had a bit of a sloppy night as both teams played tough defense and made each other work in the half court to find buckets.

The MCC Rebel Girls Wrapped up a busy week on the road in Edgerton on Thursday. The Rebels took a rough loss in Windom on Monday but rebounded with a better performance against the Pipestone Arrows on Tuesday. MCC was facing a tough Edgerton team with great size upfront. For the first time all week, the Rebels had their entire roster ready to play but with illness and injurycausing players to miss much of the week, the Rebels hadn’t been able to practice as they would like. The Rebels would take their third loss of the week as the Rebels struggled to stop the size of Edgerton.
