Michelle Susan Zenk of Hadley has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year. Zenk, a junior majoring in agricultural and environmental sciences communication, and environmental studies, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The following students graduated after the spring 2022 semester at South Dakota State University. The more than 1,500 students listed below completed all requirements for a degree and/or certificate program and those requirements have been verified by the appropriate college.

Make plans now to attend the 2022 Murray County Master Gardeners’ Summer Garden Tour on Thursday, July 21 from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Slayton area after a two year COVID hiatis. Hosts this year include Melodie Knutson’s House and Gaeland Priebe, Clint and Donna Rohrer, Steve and Swantje Willers, Marshall and Darcy Geho, Brian and Jodi Christianson, Travis Smith, Bill and Cathy Ellefeson and Don and Judy Carlson.

The Slayton Community Band and Area Churches will be hosting the 2nd annual HYMN SING at Gullord Park on Thursday, July 7 at 7:00 P.M. If you were there last year, it was an evening to remember! This is a collaboration between the area Ministerial Group and the Community Band. Songs that will be included are Amazing Grace, Praise to the Lord, and Chorale Prelude: For the Beauty of the Earth. There will be other hymns sang accompanied by pianist, Bev Swift. You will not want to miss this organized event!

Kendra Gleis received a 1st place in the 5-6 girls 50 yard freestyle. Brielle Plots took home 1st place honors in the 5-6 girls 100 yard individual medley.

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 with a short agenda. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter presented the final pay request for renovations completed to the Courts Building bathroom. The total cost of the project was $104,142 with work completed by Doom & Cuypers. A donation of $4,000 was accepted from the Murray County Ag Society (fairgrounds committee) for upgrading the lighting in Olson Arena. Compeer Financial had contributed the monies.
