By Jenny Kirk Upgrading various equipment and a software system were among the many motions approved by the Slayton City Council on Monday at City Hall. The council also learned that the Slayton-specific bills currently seeking approval at the legislature are now facing an uphill battle.

Murray County ECI presents Touch-a-Truck! Saturday, June 10 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton Some are big and some are not; some say BEEP and others say HONK. Some are quiet, and some are quite loud! Come visit them all and find out for yourself how fun trucks can be! The Murray County Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) presents Touch-A-Truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at the Murray County Fairgrounds.

Josie Harms, a student at Bethel University in St. Paul, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2022 semester. She is the daughter of Kirsten and Isaac Harms from Slayton, Minnesota.

By Jenny Kirk Even though the weather hasn’t been cooperating lately, practices are underway for the spring sports seasons at Murray County Central. Athletic Director James Wajer said all of the teams were practicing as of Monday, March 20 and that participation numbers are high, though the teams are anxiously waiting for decent weather, so they can get outside. “Our numbers are excellent in all sports this spring, depending on when that season will officially begin,” Wajer said. “Softball and baseball are sharing the two high school gyms, golf shares the wrestling room and track uses the elementary gym for their indoor practices until Mother Nature decides to help us out.”
