COURT QUEEN OF PEACE

Court Queen of Peace met Tuesday, April 25, 2023 with 20 members present and all officers. After a light supper served by Rita Lear, Doris Carda and their committee, Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order with Prayer and flag pledge. After the Secretary and Treasurer’s report, Financial secretary, Barb Minnehan, reported that she has sent letters to members who have not paid dues, were unable to contribute to the Lenten Lunches, or who would like to contribute to the “Pew Fund”. She has had a response for dues from 49 of our 66 membership. She has also received donations for Lenten Lunches and for the “Pew Fund”. Barb has also collected underwear, socks and Chapstick donations for the Dudley House which Jill McCord will take to Sioux Falls. Secretary, Joan Ratzloff read correspondence from seminarian, Isaiah Olsem, Christmas thanks from the Pryor’s and Marilyn Barry.

By Arnold Krusemark It is now May and Spring outside is late. Normally garden, yard, and farm field work are in total progress. This past week this writer went to Mankato. We could find only one or two fields which had the ground worked up ready for planting. There will be some long days (and nights) for at least some area farmers.

FATHER DAUGHTER PROM SET FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2023

The Slayton Women of Today is once again excited to be sponsoring their annual Father Daughter Prom on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Murray County Central High School Gym. Dads it’s time to get all dressed up and come have fun with your daughter(s). Dance the afternoon away with music by DJ Pete Beerman. Punch and snacks will be provided and all daughters will receive a prize.

NEWS EQUIPMENT PURCHASES FOR SHERIFF DEPARTMENT

By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Human Resources Director Ronda Radke was the first person on the agenda. Two seasonal museum assistants, Bryann Bose and Nancy Moberg, will return this year. Seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers, Howard Konkol and Michael Carlson will also be returning. Janette Engels has been hired as the Jail Administrator on a full time basis. Ryan Baker will be assigned the role of Investigator in the Sheriff’s Department. Museum Coordinator Jakob Etrheim has submitted his resignation as of May 26th. The hiring process will begin with current employees eligible to apply for the position at 30hrs per week.
