By Jenny Kirk The Murray County Central School Board held its regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, July 17 in the school library. After the board approved the agenda and minutes with no additions or changes, Business Director Lisa Rademacher fielded financial questions.

By Joanne Bergman The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday, July 6. A meeting delayed from the usual Tuesday meeting date due to the 4th of July holiday. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter presented the list of warrants to be approved by the Board.

By Jenny Kirk The Slayton City Council spent the majority of its July 6 meeting having a robust discussion en route to making a decision regarding the water treatment plant filter. City Administrator Josh Malchow explained that a media replacement had been budgeted for this year but that other potential issues with the water system were identified when the contractor went to replace the media.

The Southwest Regional Livestock Judging Contest was held on June 28th, 2023, in Slayton. Murray County 4-H hosted 64 youth from the surrounding counties including, Murray, Jackson, Lincoln, Brown, Winona, Martin, Pope, and Pipestone County.
