DINEHART LUNCHBOX LECTURE TO HOST MEGAN BARKOB NARVEY

The November Lunchbox Lecture will be held Thursday November 9 at noon in the 4-H building on the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton. This month’s topic will be presented by Megan Narvey, Conservation Outreach Specialist at the Minnesota Historical Society. She will be presenting “Saving Your Stuff: How to Care for Art, Heirlooms, and Personal Collections.”

NOVEMBER 1, 2023 1ST QUARTER WRAP-UP As we now have entered November and are winding down the first quarter of the year (November 10th), we are looking forward to upcoming events like our annual Veterans Day program, the annual MCC American Education Celebration, and the annual Musical put on by our drama department. We also are looking forward to the winter sports season and the upcoming holidays.

SLAYTON KIWANIS CLUB HAPPENINGS

The Slayton Kiwanis Club is a local chapter of Kiwanis International, a service organization that is focused on improving the world, one child and one community at a time. The Slayton Kiwanis Chapter contributes funding to community organizations or projects and children’s initiatives, including: MCC graduate scholarships, Murray County Early Childhood Initiative, Scouts BSA, and more. The group also partners with local organizations to offer programming initiatives, including K-Kids – a partnership between MCC & Slayton Kiwanis for fourth and fifth grade students to learn leadership kills, self-development, character building, and participate in adult-guided service projects. Programming also occurs through presentations at regular club meetings from local speakers on topics of interest. Recent topics have included regional trail planning, an exchange student program, and advance care planning.
