By Arnold Krusemark Autumn is progressing for sure. Another sign of Fall is arriving daily - the leaves are falling off the trees. Some people will tidy up by raking up and disposing of the leaves, while others will leave the leaves on the ground to decay and become fertilizer for the trees.

Court Queen of Peace met Oct. 24, 2023 at 6 PM at Divine Mercy Hall with 16 members present. Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order followed by prayer and flag pledge. In the absence of a recording secretary no report was given. Barb Minnehan reported 62 members with only 2 left to pay dues. Correspondence came from Shirley Legler. Amy left several cards for members to send a greeting to elderly and shut-ins. SOS chair, Jill McCord had a thank-you from Isaiah Olsem and named the new seminarians that we will sponsor: Jonathon Lanz, John Paul Phillips, Andrew Reiner and Randy Skeate. Amy will be speaking to the eligible youth for the Education Contest to be held 10/25. Legislative chair, Jan Bryan handed out copies of Advance Directives for members to review. Spirituality chair, Jeaneen Nelson presented the Mustard Seed meditation.

By Joanne Bergman The regular meeting of the Murray County Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, November 07, 2023. Commissioner Welgraven was not present for this meeting. The payment for repair of drainage ditches shared with neighboring counties of Lyon and Nobles was approved in the amount of $91,155.33.

The Slayton Area Chamber is facilitating the process of setting up displays around the park once again this year, following the success of last year’s event. Currently, there are 17 entities interested in participating. An organizational meeting was held on October 25th to discuss the process and to formulate plans moving forward. Another meeting will be held on November 15th, 6:30 p.m. at Slayton Pizza Ranch.
