Murray County Central/Fulda Cross Country had a great day at the Red Rock Conference meet held in Fulda October 13. Boys Varsity claimed the crown by 4 points over MLA-C. Aiden Appel (2nd), Alex Betz (4th), Matthew Stapek (6th), Beckett Stelter (9th) and Micah Janssen (10th) were the top 5 scorers for the Warriors.
The girls finished 3rd, finishing 1 point behind A/E. Laiken Farris is the Conference Champion with a time of 20:03. Mara Clarke (4th), Holland Vogel (12th), Isabela Schreier (20th) and Johana Pickard (45th) were the top 5 Warrior runners. Conner Pieske won the boys junior high race and Hadley Harms was the top girls finisher placing 5th.
Previousy, the Murray County Central/Fulda Warriors Cross Country teams competed Thursday, October 7, 2025, at the Adrian Ellsworth Dragon Invitational, held at the Adrian Golf Course. With only the Red Rock Conference, Section 3A on November 1, and possibly the State Meet left on the schedule, the Warriors put together another solid day of racing.
In the junior high girls 1600-meter race, Hadley Harms led the Warriors with an eighth-place finish in 7:22.15. Alexis Pickard was close behind in 12th with a time of 7:31.30, and Sophia Hamersma took 13th in 7:34.76. Tessa Ahlquist finished 15th in 7:48.61, while Cassie Scandrett rounded out the team in 17th at 8:10.38.
The junior high boys’ team dominated their race, taking first place with a team score of just 15 points. Conner Pieske crossed the line first in 5:45.74, followed by teammate Carter Larson in second at 5:51.92. Garrett Reith finished fourth in 5:59.73, and Kole Appel was fifth in 6:04.13. Bobby Keller rounded out the top group for the Warriors, taking eighth with a time of 6:11.92.
In the varsity girls race, the Warriors finished fifth overall with 116 points. Laiken Farris continued her standout season by winning the individual title in 19:47.63. Mara Clarke also ran well, placing eighth in 20:26.29. Isabela Schreier finished 44th in 23:34.55, followed by Holland Vogel in 49th at 23:45.95, and Johana Pickard in 89th with a time of 36:24.33.
The varsity boys brought home second place as a team with 41 points and several top finishes. Senior Matthew Stapek led the way in second place with a time of 16:54.77. Aiden Appel finished right behind in third at 17:01.50, and Alexander Betz was fourth in 17:06.16.
Micah Janssen placed 19th in 19:10.14, and Beckett Stelter took 24th in 19:34.11. Tyler Reith came through in 29th with 19:59.94, followed by Wesley Hause in 32nd at 20:17.29.
Also running for the Warriors were Walker Biren, who finished in 22:22.12; Yordi Oliverdos, who ran 22:49.36; and Carson Sykora, who crossed the line in 29:46.97.
