VETERAN ALVIN HEINTZ RECEIVES QUILT OF VALOR

On September 17, 2025, Korean Army Veteran, Corporal, Alvin Heintz, of Fulda was presented with a Quilt of Valor at the Maple Lawn Senior Living in Fulda. The quilt is given in honor, appreciation and thanks for his service; and to bring comfort, peace and healing to the veteran.

E-4 Corporal, Alvin Heintz, was drafted into the military in 1953 and active duty ended in 1955, he served an additional 8 years in the Army National Guard, being honorably discharged in 1963. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was an equipment welder serving in Korea a few months, then in Guam for several more months. He re-paired equipment used to build runways for the plane. Thank you, Alvin, for your service.

Kerry Cassens from “Pieces for Heroes, Quilt of Valor” and VFW Auxiliary Post 5098 welcomed Alvin, his family and friends and presented Alvin with his quilt.

Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF), was established in 2003 by Catherine Roberts to “cover Service Members and living Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor”. Since 2003 more than 421,000 quilts have been created and presented to American veterans and active military service members.

Pieces for Heroes, Quilts of Valor group meets at the Ameri-can Legion at 411 W Lyon St. in Marshall on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 8:30 AM to 12 noon. All are welcome. Anyone can submit a QOV application for a veteran or active military service member to receive a QOV quilt.
