SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL MET ON MONDAY, APRIL 21ST

Slayton City Council, with all members present, held their regular meeting on Monday, April 21, 2025. This was the first meeting where residents could tune into a live stream video of the meeting via the city website. According to City Administrator Josh Malchow there were 4 live views and within the first 24 hours an additional 35 views of the video.

The council began by approv-ing the agenda with no additions, the minutes from the last meeting and monthly claims. Library Director, Dwayna Paplow was on hand to report on the Library IMLS (Institute of Museums and Library Science) Funding. While it does not affect us directly, if Minntex, an organization that provides grants and trainings for us, is affected, we will have to adjust our goals and services accordingly at a later date.

The Council went on to approve the Grant Agreement for the 2025 MNDOT Aero Airport Tractor/Mower/Blower. (The state will pay 90% of the cost, leaving Slayton with 10%). Next, the Council declared some city equipment as surplus. The old 1984 Hydro Tractor from the airport, a 1986 Ford Dump Truck and a 2020 John Deere R-240 Rotary Disc Mower will go up for auction at Hwy 59 Auction. A 2014 Ford Interceptor Fleet Car, 2020 Graco Linelazer V3900 Striper and 2018 Ford Interceptor will be auctioned through Minnbid/ Govdeals.

Lastly, the Council went on to approve the purchase of a new Paint Striper, the Platinum Fair Sponsorship and hoses for the Fire Department, all budgeted items.
