SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL APPROVES LIQUOR LICENSE FOR GOLF ON BROADWAY

Slayton City Council met on Monday, December 6th. All members were present for the evening meeting. The agenda was approved with additions. The minutes from the last meeting were reviewed and approved as were the claims.

Under pending items, City Administrator Josh Malchow gave the Council an update on the Golden Living Center Development Project. Mitch and Matt with MN Signature Care were in town last week and met with Malchow. Bids are in but still high, that was to be expected. They have met with their primary lender in town (FNB) and also with Prairieland for SBA funding. They will also work with Murray County for revolving loan funds. They are requesting from Slayton City EDA revolving loan funding, an increase from $50,000 to $100,000 (Malchow said this would be discussed at the next EDA meeting). Everything is on track for a Spring 2022 construction plan. They are still working to cut costs where they can.

Unfinished business includes the AFSCME memo of understanding with the union for vacation time and back accrual time. This was discussed in past meetings, and it was recommended by the personnel committee to rescind the past motions and to readdress the topic with the union group and find a solution. The Council approved this and will move forward with the union group.

The 2022 Township Fire Contracts were provided to the Council for review, these are an increase of 5% over the past year. This includes 6 townships and 2 cities (Hadley and Avoca). These were approved.

The Council next approved sending the Police Secretary to training in the Twin Cities. The last item to discuss was a full on-sale liquor license approval for Golf on Broadway for Mr. Jake Erickson. This amount will be pro-rated per background and licensing approval.
