By Norma Ditmann Under review by the Slayton City Council during their Monday, October 6th meeting, was the Bolllig Engineering Task Order No. 1 proposal. The project Title is Slayton Airport - Airport Zoning and Clear Zone Acquisition Plan. The work will include a completion of Airport Zoning and Clear Zone Acquisition Plan for approval by MnDOT aeronautics. The plan received approval from the council.
A proposed water project in the 3000 block on South Pine Avenue is estimated at $85,000. Public Works Director, Weston Mahon, talked with the council about the project. After extensive discussion, with consideration to timing, purchase and storage of items necessary for the project, a motion was approved to delay the start of the project until the spring of 2026.
Erik A. Skogquist, Senior Accreditied Minnesota Assessor, had presented an Assessing Contract Renewal Proposal for the 2025-2026 year at a cost of $21,400 per annum. Skogquist will appraise all taxable parcels within the city.
Approved was a Lease for Lawful Gambling Activity for Currie Town and Country Boosters for Giggles Tavern, Inc. (DBA Backyard Bar and Grill - previous name was City Limits).
Discussion took place regarding the City Mainteance Building Topographic and Boundary Survey.
Also discussed was a proposed maintenance storage facility for the City of Slayton. Following the council’s discussion, more information will be sought from local businesses.
Resolution N06-2025 regarding a cable franchise transfer received approval. Bluepeak is changing hands, and the council needed to consent to the transfer.
Approved was a street closure for LindenFest, which will take place on October 29th. The closure will be between Broadway Avenue and Linden.
Slayton City Council will meet again on Monday, October 20th, 7 p.m.
