Slayton City Council accepted an anonymous donation of $50,000 to the Fire Department during their Monday meeting. The donation will be used to purchase battery-operated combination extrication equipment. The new items will replace tools purchased in the 1990’s. The council approved the quote for the equipment and then declared the old equipment as surplus.
The council extended their thanks to the donor, with Mayor Miron Carney stating, “It’s good to hear that we live in a community where folks are that generous.”
By unanimous vote, the council accepted the donation of a dock at Prairie Estates.
The Slayton Police department request to purchase a Glock 9mm, to replace a tenyear old gun, was approved.
Resolution 03-16-2026 MN DNR Outdoor Recreation Grant Program was approved. The Resolution allows the City of Slayton to act as a legal sponsor for the proposed project that is contained within the Outdoor Recreation Grant application.
A Local Animal Pound Agreement was approved with a request from the council to the pound that the council be provided quarterly reports regarding the number of animals boarded and the length of stay.
Ads for quotes for the restrooms at the Slayton Senior Center will be placed in the local newspaper very soon. The project will include the restrooms and a storage area.
Approved was the renewal of the Backyard Bar and Grill On Sale and Sunday On Sale Licquor Licenses effective April 1, 2026.
Monday, April 6, 2026, will be the next regular meeting of the Slayton City Council.
