The Rebels competed in their second of four varsity conference golf meets on Thursday, with the girls traveling to Sanborn and the boys hosting in Slayton. While course conditions were favorable, players battled less-than-ideal weather throughout the round.

On the girls side, MCC put together another strong team performance. The Rebels finished with a team score of 375, placing second on the day behind Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (374). Despite the narrow finish, MCC remains in a strong position overall, currently sitting second in the conference standings with a two-day total of 758. Rachael Huso led MCC with an impressive round of 87, earning a fourth-place tie in the individual standings. Huso struggled on her front nine, but significantly improved on the back. She carded 6 pars on her round. Natalie Einck followed with a 90, while Lizzie Daniels and Brielle Plotz each carded rounds of 99 to round out the team score. Additional contributions came from Elysia Korver (101) and Emersyn Meyer (128). Reflecting on the meet, Einck shared, “Keep a positive attitude because it’s just golf and in the end it’s okay!!” Teigyn Oleary of Russell-Tyler- Ruthton earned medalist honors with an 83.

On the boys side, MCC placed sixth as a team with a score of 381, bringing their two-day total to 749. Kaden Landsman led the Rebels with an 85, finishing third individually. Landsman recorded seven pars and showed steady play throughout his round. Jett Veldhuisen followed with a 91, while Gary Plotz (102), Keagan Wiekeraad (103), Joshua Wolske (105), and Hunter Reese (132) completed the scoring. Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton Public (SWMCH-EHS) claimed the team title with a 353, followed by Mountain Lake (357). Individually, Keegan Hamm of SWMCH-EHS took medalist with an 82.

The Rebels will continue conference play with two meets remaining this season as both teams look to build momentum heading into the final stretch.
