Adrian/Ellsworth 53 - MCC 39
The Rebels have not had a winning streak this season. The Rebels have won five games but in each case the Rebels lost their next time out. MCC was hoping to start a streak for the first time, but that meant beating the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons, who were 8-4 on the season. The Dragons were also coming off their best win of the season over WWG. The Rebels winning streak would have to wait as the Dragons picked up the win.
This was a game which showed the Rebels biggest problems. The Rebels defense competed well and did some really good things, like limiting Katlyn Frodermann to just four points in the game. The Rebels only allowed Brylee Zebe to make three shots. The Rebels forced 22 turnovers from the Dragons, while turning the ball over 23 times. What the Rebels did not do is make open shots, while the Dragons did. The Dragons took control early, outscoring the Rebels 17-3 over the first ten minutes. The Rebels settled in and played evenly the rest of the first half, but the Dragons stayed in front by double digits, taking a 29 to 12 lead at the half.
The second half would see the Rebels score first to get within ten, but the Dragons, then went on a run to get up 20. The story of the second half would be MCC getting a good look at a shot only to miss and the Dragons would get the ball inside of 15 feet and more times than not, they would score. The Rebels, once down 20, started to make some three point shots which allowed them to battle back to 11 and 12 points late in the second half. The Dragons did a good job of controlling their lead. The Dragons would win 53 to 39.
Taylor Larson had a solid shooting game, scoring 14 points and Ava Deacon scored 12 to lead the way for the Rebels. No one else had more than 5 points. The Dragons had four players scoring 7 or more points with Shandra Cuperus scoring 18 to lead the way. The Rebels will be back in action this week against Pipestone and RTR.
