The MCC Rebel boys were on the road on Friday night, traveling to Mountain Lake to take on the 1-8 Wolverines. Wolverines. The Rebels were the heavy favorites in this match-up, and even though they were missing a coach and starter for this game, they took of business in picking up the win.

The first half saw a close contest as the Rebels pounded the ball inside for baskets against the smaller Wolverines. Siden Swenson dominated the game with 18 first half points with just two free throws in the first 18 minutes. Wyatt Thompson scored 9 points in the first half, most of them coming in the paint. The Rebels got a nice boost from Cayden Veldhuisen and Dugan Kluis who scored eight points each. The Wolverines were hitting the three point shot in the first half and that kept them in the game. Mountain Lake Area - Comfrey made eight three point shots in the half. Aiden Olson was the top scorer for the home team with 10 points. The Rebels led at the break 45 to 35.

Teams that live by the three point shot often die by it and that was the case for the Wolverines. MLAC saw the deficit expand over the second half as the outside shot was not dropping like in the first half. Micah Fast made three threepoint shots in the second half but all in the last couple of minutes after the Rebels lead had crossed the 20 points mark. The Rebels showed some good balance in the scoring department in the second half with 5 different players scoring 5 or more points. Tayden Beerman got hot scoring nine points for the Rebels. Dugan Kluis scored 7 points in the second half as the Rebels took control of the game. The Wolverines made a nice run late in the game to get the game back inside of 20 points but in the end the Rebels were too much, winning the game 84 to 63.

The Rebels shooting percentage was rock solid but some of that was the fact the Rebels were shooting inside of ten feet. MCC shot 53% from the field and out-rebounded the Wolverines by 15. The Rebels forced MLAC into 22 turnovers. The Rebels Aiden Swenson had 23 points and 13 rebounds for a double double. MCC had another 3 players in double figures with Kluis scoring 15 points. Veldhuisen 14, and Wyatt Thompson finished with 13 points and 4 assists. The Wolverines, led by Aidan Olson finished with 20 points while Maxton Fast scored 13 and Micah Fast added 12. The 6-3 Rebels will play Monday in Slayton against the state ranked HBC Patriots.
