April 30 HLO/F at MCC

The MCC baseball team was 9-0 on the season playing the Heron Lake Okabena Fulda Coyotes this last Thursday afternoon in Slayton. The Rebels knocked off the Coyotes earlier this season and were looking to remain undefeated on the year. MCC had a balanced effort in picking up their tenth win of the year with a couple of players stepping up at the varsity level.

Tristan Behrends made the start on the mound for the Rebels, and the junior pitched three solid innings. Behrends stroke out five in his three innings and didn’t allow a hit. The Coyotes used a pair of walks, two hots and two walks to score four runs in the fourth inning, but the Rebels were up big at this points. We would see Finn Schneider get some action on the mound pitching one and two thirds innings in relief. The Freshman allowed just one hit while striking out two batters in his relief appearance.

At the plate, the Rebels scored ten runs in the first inning. Teague Meyer led the game off with a double which was followed by a walk and a hit batter to load the bases. The Rebels scored two runs on a fielders choice and an error to get on the board. An error and walk reloaded the bases with one out in the inning. A walk to Danny Larson drove in one run and a single by Gabe Tentinger scored another. Carter Hanson singled in the 5th run and Teague Meyer scored the 6th.

The Rebels scored a run on a hit by pitch with the bases loaded. Carter Hanson scored on a passed ball and a base hit by Krew Schneider drove in the last two runs of the first inning.

The Rebels never looked back, scoring two runs in the second and 4 in the third. The Rebels got the win 16 to 4 in 5 innings.

Tristan Behrends got the win for the Rebels pitching the first three innings while striking out five and not allowing a run. Reierson took the loss for the Coyotes giving up 6 earned runs and eight total runs in the first inning.

Teague Meyer and Carter Hanson led the Rebels with three hits each. Meyer scored two runs and drove in two while Hanson scored two runs and drove inthree. Krew Schneider had two hits and four RBI’s as the Rebels pick up their tenth win of the season.

They will play Monday at home against RRC/WWG.

May 4 RRC/WWG at MCC

The MCC Baseball has had a terrific season entering Mondays game with RRC/WWG with a 9-0 record. The Rebels have done a great job pitching and playing defense behind that pitching much of the season. As well, the offense have done their job in giving the Rebels early leads allowing the pitchers the comfort of taking the mound while in the lead. The Rebels did more of the same on Monday against the Falcons.

The Rebels scored the first 16 runs of the game with three runs in the first, second, and fourth innings. They added seven runs in the 3rd to build a huge lead. The Rebels started the game with a single and walk to open the game. Then Dugan Kluis singled to score the first run of the game. Krew Schneider hit a sac fly to score a run and Cayden Veldhuisen grounded out to drive in the third run. In the second inning, Gabe Tentinger got an RBI single and Dugan Kluis hammered a 2 run homer to make the score 6-0. In the third inning Dugan Kluis got hit by a pitch to drive in yet another run. He added another home run later in the game as the Rebels pulled ahead big.

Teague Meyer got the start for the Rebels on the mound and the senior put together another nice outing. Meyer threw a complete game 5 inning contest striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed just 2 hits and one run and that run came after the Rebels were up 16-0. Meyer was again economical with hit pitches throwing 67 pitches 45 of them were strikes. The Rebels defense committed one error in the game as they remained undefeated on the season at 10-0. The Rebels picked up the win 16-1.

Dugan Kluis had the big game at the plate for the Rebels going 3 for 3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 6 runs while scoring 2 and hitting 2 home runs. Carson Lewis was 3 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and a double. Tristan Behrends and Teague Meyer had two hits each in the win.

The Rebels will play Pipestone on Thursday and in Mountain Lake on Friday.
