Slayton Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1951 by a group of Slayton men noticing the need to help the children and youth of this community. This was the start of a tradition that continues today, almost 75 years later. In the 1980’s women were invited to join. The Club currently meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 12:00 noon at the Pizza Ranch. New members are welcome.

The purpose of the local Kiwanis Club is to provide local children with enriched opportunities to excel in academics, extra curriculars, leadership and community involvement. This current year, over $9,000 was given to individuals and organizations within the community to benefit children. Some of those receiving funding were: MCC scholarships, Cub Scouts, Early Childhood Initiative, WonderWorld Preschool, Murray County Christmas Project, youth soccer, American Legion Boys & Girls State, and many more.
