George Rosenbrook went 4-for-4, and teammates Garrett Johnson and Van Prahm hit back-to-back home runs as the Murray County Central baseball team defeated Tracy 14-6 in the championship game of the Hadley Lions Junior High tournament last weekend.
The MCC team lost its opening game in the nine-team competition, then rallied for three straight victories to earn the championship trophy. The young Rebels defeated a Marshall seventh-grade team 15-0, then topped Adrian 10-5 in the semifinals. The victory over Tracy in the title game avenged an 8-3 loss suffered in the first round.
Rosenbrook went 13-for-15 with nine runs scored and five doubles in the tournament. He also pitched two innings.
Johnson and Prahm each had seven hits in the tourney, while Garret Joens had six.
Pitching for MCC throughout the day were Johnson, Prahm, Riley Einck, Caden Behrends and Nolan Ludolph. Others who played well for the Rebels were Keegan Aamodt, Brenner Schryvers, and Colton Joens.
The team was coached by Mark Benda and Scott Mansch.
