The MCC Softball team was back in action on Thursday looking to cap the week with a second win and to remain undefeated in the Red Rock Conference. The Rebels were on the road to RRC/WWG, playing near Walnut Grove. The Rebels were coming off a win over HLOF on Tuesday, but picking up another win heading into Easter was key, especially with a Monday matchup with Edgerton/SWC coming up.

The Rebels were led by their pitching on Thursday. Thea Schneider didn’t allow the Falcons to score a run. The Rebels Senior struck out 14 batters and she didn’t allow a walk. The Falcons got a single by Deann Roiger in the second inning and that would be the teams only base hit of the game. The Rebels committed a pair of errors in the game, but the Falcons could not score.

Carlie Ross threw a good game for the Falcons and kept the Rebels in check over the first two innings. In the third inning, Ava Deacon singled and moved to second on an error in left field. With one out, Emmi Peltola singled to left field, driving in a run. Kate Blankenship doubled to bring in Peltola, putting the Rebels ahead 2-0. Ava Deacon doubled in the fourth inning and scored when Peltola reached on an error in center field, to make the score 3-0. Thea Schneider singled to center, scoring Peltola to take a 4-0 lead. The Rebels won the game 4-0 in a low scoring battle.

The Rebels had just 6 total hits all by the top 4 hitters in the lineup. Ava Deacon and Kate Blankenship had 2 hits each while Peltola and Schneider had a hit each. Peltola reached base in all 4 of her at bats walking twice and reaching on the error. Peltola had two RBI’s in the game while Blankenship and Schneider had 1 RBI each. Thea Schneider picked up the win with 14 strikeouts and 1 hit allowed. Carlie Ross took the loss striking out 12 while allowing 6 hits and 4 walks. The Rebels will play Monday at Edgerton in a game between two undefeated teams in the Red Rock Conference.
