The Rebels hosted their first meet of the season this past Thursday at Slayton Country Club. The varsity triangular was against the RRC Falcons and MLA-C Wolverines. The golfers couldn’t have asked for a nicer day, and the course was in great condition for this time of year. It’s not often that the golfers get a round in prior to April in Minnesota.
All the golfers had to think decisively on their shots, especially when on the greens. Early course conditions factored into every stroke for the players. For the boys, Kaden Landsman and Lucas Kuball had a strong debut and led the Rebels with 45s. Landsman and Kuball tied for 2nd place individual medalist honors. The boys top four scores were rounded out by Jett Veldhuisen and Dawson Schreier for a total of 192. Ava Johnson led the girls for MCC with a 40, finishing in 1st place individually. Johnson stated that she thought the team played very well. “I took my time and relaxed during the meet. Since it was the first meet, I kind of treated it like practice--tried to just have fun and talk to the people I was with and that helped a lot.” Rachael Huso carded a 43 finishing in 2nd place. MCC’s team total was 191, with the third and fourth scores coming from LIzzie Daniels and Natalie Einck. The Rebels are off to a great start this season, and are playing with confidence and grit.
