It was a cold and windy day for the Rebels at the girls 18hole Marshall Invitational. With a few meets and one 18-hole round under their belts, most of the girls felt very confident going into the meet. The competition was extremely tough, but MCC’s golfers played outstanding and the team finished near the top of the leaderboard.
The Rebels shot well, but had to fight the conditions on top of their mental games. Rachael Huso came in with the low for MCC with a 92. She played consistently throughout the day and carded two pars. Huso finished the meet in 9th place out of 47 golfers. Behind her for the Rebels was Ava Johnson with an 97. Johnson also carded two pars throughout her round and finished in 12th place. The team was able to pull together a total of 399 and finished in 3rd place.
Though the weather was not perfect, the Rebels performed extremely well on the challenging course. MCC was able to play with some opponents who they will face-off against in future conference and section meets. It will be key for the girls to stay focused on making individual improvements while holding strong to their team scores.
