The MCC Rebel Football team was on the road Friday night (September 26) traveling to Lac Qui Parle Valley High School near Madison to take on the Eagles. The Rebels were looking for their third straight win after starting the season 0-2. The Eagles are a team that have been decimated by injuries this season and were 0-4 on the season. The Rebels were looking to get off to a quick start, build a lead and let their defense lead the way to a win. The Rebels would do exactly that in a game that would not be close.

LQPV would start the game with the football, but after a couple of plays the Eagles had a bad pitch on a run play and Luke Iverson recovered the loose ball. The Rebels first drive lasted three plays. Carson Lewis ran two times for 12 yards and then Gabe Tentinger sprinted twenty four yards for a touchdown. Teague Meyer converted the two point conversion to put the Rebels ahead 8-0. The Rebels would go back on defense where they forced a punt which was blocked by the Rebels. It was recovered by Luke Iverson. Gabe Tentinger scored on the first play of the Rebel drive, running 25 yards for a touchdown and the Quintin Lewis two point conversion put the Rebels ahead 16-0 with over seven minutes to play in the quarter. The Rebels forced a punt from the Eagles and the Rebels got the ball at their own 45 yard line. Carson Lewis would break a 55 yard touchdown run and with the extra point by Jordan Sturges, put MCC ahead 23 to 0. The Rebels would score two more touchdowns in the first quarter. Brayden Gilb recovered a fumble and Lucas Kuball finished a drive with a 10 yard touchdown run. The extra point put the Rebels ahead 30-0. The final score of the quarter would come after a fumble on the kickoff. Max Mathiason came up with the loose ball. The Rebels scored with 48 seconds left in the quarter on a Kuball two yard run. The extra point was made by Aubin Licht bringing the score to 37-0. The Rebels would continue to shut out the Eagles. Teague Meyer would score the only touchdown of the second quarter on a two yard run. The extra point made the score 44-0 at halftime.

The second half saw the Rebels pull almost all of their starters at halftime. Several players saw time at their second position, otherwise, it was JV players getting a majority of the playing time. Max Mathiason and Caleb Rosenbrook scored on nine yard touchdown runs in the third quarter. Mathiason scored with 8:54 left in the quarter, but the extra point was missed, making the score 50-0. Rosenbrook scored with 1:34 left and Licht again converted the extra point to make the score 57-0 after three. The Rebels JV played well against a lineup of Eagle starters. The Eagles would score a touchdown in the 4th quarter when Gavin Mortenson ran 36 yards for the score to put the Eagles on the scoreboard, but MCC led 57 to 6. On the following kick, Parker Olson returned the kick 65 yards for a touchdown to make the final score 64 to 6.

The MCC Rebels finished the game with 360 yards, 249 on the ground and 111 through the air. LQPV ran for 90 yards and threw for 25 yards for a game total of 115. The Eagles had 4 turnovers plus they had a blocked punt. The Rebels were led by Carson Lewis who finished with 8 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Tentinger had 3 carries for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns while catching 3 passes for 69 yards. It was a big win for the Rebels, whose winning streak has now reached three games with a rivalry showdown with the TMB Panthers coming up on Friday Night in Tracy.
