September is Minnesota School Board Recognition Month. It’s a great time to honor and recognize the dedicated individuals who serve as the guiding light for student success in our public schools. School board members at Murray County Central serve countless hours to ensure our public school students have access to high-quality learning and extracurricular opportunities that prepare them for a bright future.
These local leaders are entrusted by its communities to oversee a budget of over $10 million, support 730 students PK-12, lead 105 employees and steward two buildings. Their work goes far beyond meetings and policies. They set the vision, shape priorities, and make complex decisions that directly impact our classrooms, our families, and our future.
School boards are charged with making decisions that can sometimes be quite difficult or require sifting through a great deal of information. They also bear responsibility for developing a vision that will guide the school district for years to come. Through collaboration as a team, and with school district staff, their governance and advocacy are building the future of education in Minnesota. They are a steady hand in times of change, a voice for our communities, and a beacon guiding our schools toward success. Ultimately, board members help create the conditions where dreams can take root and grow.
This September, we are encouraging all members of the MCC community to thank a school board member. Their commitment and service are essential to strong schools, vibrant communities, and the foundations of our democracy, public education.
We are proud to recognize the members of Murray County Central’s School Board and their years of service: Tony Clarke – 14.5 years, Brent Miller – 2.5 years, Lauren Biegler – 8.5 years, Robin Gilbertson – 8.5 years, Heather Hoekman – 2.5 years, and Katie Hoffmann - .5 year.
