JAIL AND BAIL IS BACK FOR SPRING EXPO

Murray County Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) is bringing back one of their favorite fundraisers and looking for volunteers to go to jail!

Originally an event that took place during the Murray County Fair, residents would sit inside the ECI jail on the courthouse lawn and make phone calls, trying to raise at least $100 “bail” to get out. That money would go to support ECI endeavors, which include Touch-A-Truck, Wiggle-A-While, kid concerts, free books at a variety of events, FRED (Families Reading Every Day) events and more.

Over the years, many of our “jailbirds” have opted to raise the funds before the event and turn in their log sheets the day of Jail and Bail. Either is perfectly fine!

This year, ECI has opted to coordinate Jail and Bail with the Spring Expo on March 14. They are looking for volunteer Jailbirds to help raise the funds.

Jailbirds can accept checks, pledges or Venmo to raise their bail. All donations are tax deductible. Log sheets can be turned in at the Spring Expo from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday, March 14 at the MCC Gym or be brought to Slayton City Hall during business hours anytime before the event.
