GREEN THUMB

Gardeners can use this week to make sure they are ready to get going in the garden. This includes making sure their tools are ok. We used to also get the hoes sharpened and make sure the lawn mower works ok. And maybe any maintenance is done.

There is about one week when the weather is decent, the snow is gone and the tree leaves have not yet come out.

If you have woods on your land, it is also time to clean up the tree branches which fell over winter. We’ve mentioned having bonfires. Make sure they burn only whatever trash you need to remove.

Then check the soil with your hoe to make sure it is ready for tilling and gardening.

Then, when the ground is totally frost free, start your gardening. The days are now long enough you can get in some garden work after daytime work and before sunset. Saturdays are helpful for gardening too, And maybe you need to do some house cleaning too. Especially the garage.

And care for your house plants too. Not just watering.

That will keep you busy for now.

Until next week.
