As usual, recent columns have been news of the weather. And weather is again in the news this week.
Our weather may have changed a bit. This week we have had precipitation most days. Sometime is starts with rain, then freezes on and snow. So far no big storms.
We remember a news story of a South Dakota rancher who got elected to the South Dakota legislature. He was asked what changes he had noticed. The big change was when he was on his ranch the first time every morning was to check the weather. Then he could see what he could do that day. In the legislature it was the same every workday.
We could sure use some snow for sure. Otherwise it will be a hot dry summer with skimpy crops.
At least the yard and trees have not yet started growing. Just so it doesn’t get going well and then a freeze. We mentioned in past columns what happened one year when the fruit (apple and plum) trees were in blossom. Big freeze. No fruit that year. And no worms the next.
March is still in progress. Then 2 weeks in April when we could still get snowed out. We will just have to see.
Be sure your garden ideas are ready for this year’s garden.
Until next week.
