By John Stenen God created all that we see and do not see in six days. Thousands of years later, Jesus, (God in the flesh, John 1:) said, in John 14:14 that He was going away to prepare a place for us that where He is, there we would one day be because He is coming back to get us. He also said that in His Father’s house are many mansions.
So, the belief among many Christians is that when Jesus was resurrected, He strapped on His carpenter’s belt and started building beautiful dwelling places for us. And since creation came about in six days, our mansions must really be something since He has been at it for two thousand years.
Well, to tell you the truth, I do not believe that. I could be wrong of course, but I believe that what He meant by preparing a place for us was the fact that the cross was just before Him, and He willingly suffered and died for all who would place their faith in what He did on the cross; and receive Him as Lord. (John 1:12; Romans 10:910,13). During His three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, (Matthew 12:40), He released all of the Old Testament saints out of Paradise and they now reside in heaven. I believe that, that is the ‘place’ Jesus was talking about.
When a Christian dies, they no longer descend into the depths of the earth, to paradise -which was across from the region of hell, (Luke 16:19-31)The apostle Paul informs us that believers now go straight to heaven, (Phil. 1:21-23). I am anticipating His return one day, which may be sooner than you think. Where are you planning to spend eternity? God bless.
