Several years ago, I read the story of a few Christian ladies who got together each week for prayer. As time went on, they felt led of the Lord to go into different communities and do street witnessing. One evening as they were out witnessing and passing out tracts to whoever would give them a few minutes of their time to hear the gospel, one of the ladies received a vision of an apartment building and its address. “Ladies” she said, “The Holy Spirit just showed me a building with its address and apartment number; we must go there.” The building wasn’t far away so they went there, knocked on the door and heard a feeble voice of a man say, “Come in.” An elderly man was confined to his bed. They shared with him why they were there and that the Lord wanted them to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with him. He told them that he had been told that he had only a few days to live and appreciated the ladies coming. He was not a Christian, but after hearing the good news of Jesus and the salvation He offered; the man received Jesus as Savior and Lord.
What a wonderful story. I believe more of these kinds of things should be happening among Church members today, but how sad that statistics tell us that roughly 95% of Christians never win another person to Christ. When God’s faithful laborers are out working in the harvest field, He can supernaturally lead His children. If we are nothing but ‘parked cars,’ doing nothing, it is difficult for Him to lead us. The Great Commission, given to us by Jesus, tells us to go into all the world and make disciples. He also said, “If you love Me you will keep my commands.” Are you faithful to give the gospel to others? If not, try stretching your faith and do it. The only thing we can take to heaven with us will be those who we’ve won to Christ. God bless.
